Andrew Castrucci's Painting Class, Thursday, March 27, 2014

I got the chance to do Andrew's class again, I love his class. I always forget to add how long the poses are. This was about a two and half hour standing pose in a three hour class.

Artist David, I love how
he mixes mediums. The energy
in this is great.

Artist Christina, I always love her
pallet.

Artist Anna, this was her largest
canvas of me. She always picks
up my love of purples.

Artist Laura, this is saying
so much. Y'all know I
love energy.

Artist Ken, I have learned I have to
catch him at his halfway point. That point
when an artist thinks the work is not working
for them. Love it.

Artist Sebastian, even though
he could not get his groove
you have to admit this has beauty.

Artist Andrew Castrucci Evening Class on Thursday, March 20, 2014

The hours before this class were so crazy and certainly affected my personal presentation, yet these artists still pulled out great work.

Well first about me:

  • My Mom had been hit by a car while she was not hurt to need to be in a hospital, I wanted to be sure she was okay. This meant I had to forfeit my afternoon class. Now I never cancel lightly, because I lose money I can not get back.
  • Then the traffic was annoying. The bus driver was trying to make up for lost time and ends up getting pulled over for spending. So it was becoming clear I was going to be late.
  • My phone died, so I thought. I could not call ahead. Turns out I need another new phone. My phone has just started powering down whenever it sees fit.
  • Finally, I make it to class and then I get sick.
  • In all my running around, I had forgotten to eat ALL DAY. I woke up at 5:30 am it was now 7:00 pm and I had only eaten once the day before. It hit me when I began to get lightheaded. This is not how I normally treat my body at all.
  • So I was determined to finish this class for the students. I had to shorten my poses and have the fan on high plus keep drinking cold water.
So with all this disruption this is the great work the students have done. This class focuses on the abstract, esp. using different materials to create the artwork.

Karma

I have a great deal happen last week, but Friday was what I want to share today.

Most of my Life, I have been known as the 'let it slide' person, to doormat status. That has finally gotten old, in my later years of Life. So to Friday:

I was in New York for work and I needed to get back to Philly to work that night. I brought a ticket with my normal bus company. It was clear I needed to leave earlier. The thing I liked about this bus company, was whether you miss you bus or need to leave earlier you only need get on standby at no extra charge. The sign simply reads, 'Standby Line, First Come First Serve.'

That did not happen this time.

Myself and another were waiting on standby and when it came time for the bus driver to take the first come first serve riders, he skipped us. When he checked the woman in front of me reservation, he informed her he had to check the line for earlier reservations. The woman and I had the same time original reservation.

Did you all read that I shared the Standby line is first come first serve. Which means you are to start with the first inline, then the second and then the third, etc. Apparently, he did not get that lesson in school.

Not that is should matter, the driver was not 'White'. He is 'Black'. Again, not that is matters. Wrong is wrong no matter the race or color, sex, etc.

So as he is walking the line calling for the others with tickets, I am on the phone with the bus company. I was hoping something had changed with the bus policy that I had not been told. By the time, I got someone on the phone he was taking a cash fair standby.

Recall, he claimed he had to take the earlier ticket holders on standby before us.

As he is taking the persons money, I have started explaining what was happening. That was the quickest I saw him move. By the time, all was said and done he was gone but I was not letting this die.

I told them I use this company way to much for work anywhere from two to five times a week. I have done so since 2011. Aside from assuring me that was incorrect behavior, they advocated for me and the Lady in front of me.

I got on the following bus and passed out.

When I got off the bus I had calmed down and the bus driver shared that the bus driver that over looked us never made it to Philly. His bus broke down, aside from the questions he needed to answer about his behavior.

I felt sorry for the passengers of the other bus, but it is clear I was not meant to be on that bus.

I missed the opportunity to get photos of last semester's work. I still did not get everyone I wanted, Darn It.

Had another session with the artist, Kyveli. She added some touches to one of the drawings she did, I love it. I really think the students are used to people not getting their work. I love so much of what I witness, whether or me or not.
